The Problem#
Starting out on a new project or development programme?
Using EJB, ESB, HTML, HTTP, CSS, XML, XSL, YAML, BPL, JPA, SOA, RMI, REST or any of the other thousands of TLAs[1] and buzzword technologies we constantly see quoted in Position Vacant ads?
Are you sure that your dev team has a strong and thorough grounding in the technologies you'll be deploying?
We are frequently surprised at the gaps in the knowledge of even experienced and talented developers.
Whilst we strongly advocate Hire For Talent above Hire For Buzzwords, we understand that there are times you need to be sure that your team has the technical skills vital for implementing specific technologies; times when you cannot afford to wait or take any risks.
Why?#
Sometimes even excellent developers with extensive experience in a technology find that they gain valuable insight and understanding into long neglected aspects of the technology that have slipped by under the pressure and urgency to Get Things Working.
The reality is that even long-established technologies are constantly evolving. Keeping up to date with the changes is impractical for even the most dedicated developer when their day-to-day responsibilities are to deliver working software.
What Makes Our Courses Different?#
The essential feature of our Key Technology training -- and starkly absent in the IT training products on offer from most vendors -- are instructors who have real-world experience using and deploying those technologies in live software. Most mainstream training centres do not employ real-world software developers to deliver their courses. To keep costs down they simply "upskill" their full-time trainers to be able to deliver the training material.
Result? No real-world experience of the technology. No deep knowledge transfer. No war-stories or "gotchas". Frankly, most programmers are better off working through a manual or tutorial under their own steam for a week.
Mike works with a select group of training partners to ensure the broadest range of experience-grounded Key Technology Training by qualified and experienced practitioners who are also excellent teachers. Not one of us works as a full-time "trainer". We are all hands-on developers first and foremost.
Act Now!#
If you don't see mention of a specific technology that you need taught in our CourseCatalogue please contact us and ask, anyway. There is a good chance that, if we are unable to deliver appropriate courses ourselves, we can put you in touch with someone who can deliver the quality we demand of all our training courses.
